Palazzina Masieri
Venezia - Italia
Restoration of the floors of the Palazzina Masieri designed by Carlo Scarpa.
The project, curated by @barmanarchitects and supported by Heritage Asset Management and @galerie_negropontes, was carried out for the Masieri Foundation, under the supervision of @iuav_venezia
The Foundation was originally designed as a home for Angelo Masieri and his wife, but was transformed into a memorial after their deaths in a car accident. Architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s initial design was rejected by the Municipality of Venice in 1955, so in 1968, Carlo Scarpa was commissioned to renovate the interior while keeping the exterior facade intact.
On the ground floor there are Terrazzo in Venetian style with designs of brass blades and marble inserts designed by Scarpa to recall the ceiling structures. The use of rounded marble granules is interesting.
