… AND THE EYE LIES ON THOUSANDS OF HAND-SHEARED TILES, PLACED SIMULATING THE CASE, INDIVIDUALLY AND MINUTLY, FOR A RESULT OF IMPERFECT REGULARITY
Carlo Scarpa was an Italian architect, designer and academic, one of the most important of the twentieth century. For his work he received the Olivetti award, the IN / ARCH award, the Gold Medal for Meritorious Culture and Art, the President of the Republic Award for architecture, and nominations as a member of the Honorary Royal Designers for Industry, the Olympic Academy of Vicenza and the National Academy of San Luca.
Today we want to pay homage to his idea of “Floor” expressed in the Olivetti shop in Piazza San Marco in Venice, re-proposing Floors with Tiles both in Murano glass and in marble, laid by hand following his technique scrupulously.
“We are not interested in mediocre, we know beauty, we go in search of the sublime”
